1800newdeal, an auto loan company, wanted a modern, fun look for their new company Overland Finance. The designer, Caudill Miller, decided on an animated, light style that looks great. Although I had used html5 canvas in the past, this would be my first time using it on a larger project.
Animated Hero Section
Creating a workflow to utilize Adobe Animate as the main design platform was daunting at first. After seeing the initial design animations, I was inspired by older side-scroller games and how they would animate the backgrounds. I had to create loops in javascript to handle these repeating elements and fine-tune them in Animate. The final result was seamless background elements with no gaps.
Mobile Friendly and Cross Browser Ready
The site was tested thoroughly to ensure that it looked great at all resolutions. Extra attention was paid to the dropdown menu and how it interacts with the animated hero. Also, the aspect ratio of the animation is responsive at all resolutions.
Working on development projects closely can lead to issues being unnoticed. Using Bugherd allowed testers to identify any issues early so I could resolve them before launch.
